Kuélap: This ancient fortress, located in the northern highlands, predates Machu Picchu and offers impressive stone walls and panoramic views.

Hint:  Dare stare at the bear.

Leymebamba Museum: Situated in the cloud forest, this small museum houses more than 200 mummies and artifacts from the Chachapoya civilization.

Hint:  You won’t catch trout without wetting your feet.

Gocta Waterfall: One of the tallest waterfalls in the world, Gocta is hidden within the Amazon rainforest and offers a stunning natural spectacle.

Caral: Considered the oldest known city in the Americas, Caral showcases the remains of a 5,000-year-old civilization north of Lima.
